Podcast Episode 38: Retha Nichole and Emily Thomas, A Sweaty Conversation about Racial Reconciliation

A Mom's Mission Field Podcast Episode 38 Retha Nichole and Emily Thomas and I share a sweaty conversation about racial reconciliation

Today I have a special episode for you guys. I have two fellow podcasters on today who have become very close friends of mine. If you are listening to this later or if you happen to be listening outside of the US you may not know that last week was a rough week for race relations in America. Two black men were shot by the police which sparked protests. During a protest a sniper shot and killed several police officers. The combination of those two events has really put our country at odds and this isn’t the first time this has happened.

As Christian women, what should our response be? What can we do to encourage healthy race relations and teach our children to do the same? That’s what this show is all about. Retha Nichole from the Journey to Balance Podcast and Emily Thomas from the Mom Struggling Well Podcast join me in a conversation about how to start “The Conversation.” How do we develop relationships with people of other races? How do we talk about events in the news? How do we start to listen to others without jumping to our own conclusions?

Guys, believe me when I say we were nervous about this episode. There was plenty of sweaty armpit moments and possibly some bowel issues involved, but we believe so much in the importance of this topic that we powered through. I can’t wait to hear your thoughts.

I just wanted you to know how much I appreciated this conversation (I listened twice). I could tell it was difficult, but the issues were presented in such a relatable way. I resonated so deeply with your words and anguish. I’m an adoptive mom of Asian children and related to Tiffany’s purpose in discussing these issues the most. Maybe if we could all talk this openly, things would finally change for better.
